Amy Stone is a self-taught artist based in Birmingham, Alabama. Her first taste of fine art studies was during a few months spent in Italy in college, where she studied art history under one of the top art historians in the world. She fell in love with sculpture, the human form, the way their twisted figures told a story.
Amy has always expressed herself creatively, but she discovered her love for painting while working as a prop stylist in the publishing industry. Painting became a powerful and consuming force in her life. Her work is very connected to emotion and to relationships. She prefers to do a lot of mental work and reading before she steps to the canvas. She doesn’t plan her mark making lets the paint and marks dictate her next steps.
When she’s not painting, she enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, drinking wine on porches with good friends, and watching all the BBC mini series she can find.
