Cameron Sands is a visual artist based in Texas. Growing up, Cameron participated in sports, and enjoyed working on “creative projects”. These projects were an outlet for him and would eventually be connected to his studio practice. His work includes painting, drawing, and other forms of mixed media. Cameron’s influence range from performing arts to architecture, nature, and psychology. He received a BBA degree from UT in Austin and studied painting at the University of Houston.
A summer job in 1997 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston sparked a curiosity that led him to experiment in painting. Cameron’s work is a personal reflection on the theme of transformation. He includes literal modifications, as well as symbolic representation in his pieces. After teaching art in secondary school for 14 years, Cameron now focuses on his art projects. His home and studio are in College Station, TX.
